BC Needs Climate Action from the BC Liberals

British Columbia is burning. Climate change is real. 

The climate is changing right here in BC, resulting in increased risk of drought and wildfires that destroy biodiversity and put people and families at risk.  

And it is changing around the world. 

For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we can’t put our heads in the sand. We need to look to the future and make sure they have the opportunity to live on a healthy planet. 

The BC Liberal Party needs a leader who isn’t afraid to acknowledge and address climate change. 

We should be proud of our party’s environmental leadership, and we should reclaim it with action in areas like clean energy, innovation, and Zero Emission Vehicle infrastructure. 

The political opportunity is huge. A massive majority of British Columbians believe in climate change and say that environmental protection is an urgent global priority. The elections of the future will not be won without a credible approach to the environment. 

But the economic opportunity is even bigger. We should be exporting our environmental leadership and innovation to the world - whether it’s on wildfire prediction and detection, responsible resource development, food security, or alternative energy. 

Acknowledging and addressing climate change is the right thing to do politically, morally, and economically.
